I agree with Umesh.

In my opinion, an artist proof shouldn't normally be bought (or sold).

It should either remain with the artist or can be gifted by him.

If it is sold, price should be lower than the editioned work.

Honestly, in a lot of cases, its a way to milk your good work, by keeping the option to sell another edition if the editioned works is sold out, and there is a demand for the work.
